Space
Quest 3 Soundtrack
Space Quest 3 won the "Excellence in Musical Achievement Award"
from Computer Gaming World. Not many Space Questers would disagree
if I say this game has the best music of the Series. All the songs
are recorded from the Roland MT-32. This machine makes a midi sound
like an entire orchestra. The music was composed by Bob Siebenberg.

Also
download the awesome Monolith Theme
(928 KB) 40 seconds. It's from the
1989-1990 Sierra VHS video. You can find it at the
Space Quest 3 Demo page.
Just
to illustrate the differences between soundcards and soundsetting,
please hear the following four soundclips. The last one (Roland
LAPC-1) sounds the way SQ3 is meant to sound. As you can hear, it's
vitally important which music system you use. The SoundBlaster card
in our computer is a mixture of the Adlib and the Roland card so
to speak. A pretty acceptable outcome, but far from perfect.

The
Amiga version of the "Introduction and Opening Sequence
song" deserves a special note. In that song, you can
actually hear Roger Wilco say: "Where
am I?" (160 KB)! Please
download:
01 - Introduction + Opening Sequence Amiga (3,78
MB) 4 minutes and 14 seconds.
Please
note that you can also hear this with your DOS version, but
you'll have to patch the game. Check out the patches
and fixes page how to do this. |
